Susana SOLANO
Letanías del recuerdo, 2009
carved marble slab – 90 x 130 cm
marble disc
Solano furrows the surface of a slab of marble resting on the ground beside a well that occupies one of the spaces inside the Synagogue. The pattern of the furrows is free, though their depth and width are exactly those of the strigils that mark the roundness of the well. A disc of the same marble covers the well, at the height of the point where these same strigils begin. These furrows will capture rainwater, like those that time has carved into the large stones that mark the path from the entrance to the excavations to the synagogue.
