“idea of the cast as the dimension of the not represented”:
this is Modello ligneo. A three-dimensional piece of Plexiglas
(14 x 70 x 85 cm) resting on the two-color Roman mosaic around which
the five musicians played on the day of the inauguration. Despite
the admiration it arouses as an artwork, Prini insists that Modello
ligneo possesses no aesthetic qualities because it coincides
– exactly like a cast – with the image it allows to
show through. |
